We were delighted to be asked by Guernsey Post to design the commemorative set of stamps for the Guernsey 2023 Island Games. We took an illustrative approach to the designs, with a set of 7 stamps, each one representing 2 of the fourteen sports included in the Games. The stamps were designed in a square format so that when split in half they would form a triangle which symbolises the shape of the island of Guernsey. Each of the bespoke illustrations has been created in a wire frame style that is also made up almost entirely of triangles, reinforcing the symbolism. Each of the colours for the sports ties in directly with the branding colours that have been created for the Island Games, and the background pattern is also taken from the main Games branding style which means there is a real synergy between the stamps and the Games branding. Along with the set of 7 stamps, we have also designed a miniature sheet using illustrations of the official Puffin mascot, First Day Covers, Presentation Packs, Selvedge Sheets and even a set of Postcards, one for each sport. We hope the Games are a great success and wish all the best for the competitors!
