2017 Europa Stamps for Guernsey Post
The 2017 Europa Stamps we recently completed designing for Guernsey Post have just been issued and we are really pleased with how they look. The theme from Europa this year was 'Castles', so we chose to focus on Castle Cornet and attempted to show how the castle is brought to life today by a range of modern uses as well as the fact that it is an historic monument, living museum and very important and iconic piece of local heritage. We treated the photographs so that the architecture of the castle itself was made black and white whilst the modern uses were kept in vivid colour, thereby showing clearly just how the old and the new work together. The design has been kept clean and modern with the choice of using a bold sans serif typeface throughout and adding a simple vector drawing of the bridge that connects the castle to the Guernsey mainland as a motif throughout the set. We produced a set of 6 stamps as well as a miniature sheet, first day cover, presentation pack, selvedge sheets and a cancellation stamp.
